Tour Itinerary: What to Expect on Your Combo Package

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi/Arusha

Your adventure begins with your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll be met by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. In the evening, you’ll meet your experienced mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing, final gear check, and packing recommendations. This is also your last chance to rent any missing gear before the climb. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Moshi or Arusha..

Day 1: Moshi/Arusha – Londorossi Gate (2,100m) – Big Tree Camp (2,850m)

After breakfast, we drive to Londorossi Gate for registration before heading to the trailhead at Lemosho Glades. The trek starts in dense rainforest, where you’ll see ancient trees, exotic birds, and possibly colobus monkeys. The 6km trek to Big Tree Camp takes about 3–4 hours.

Day 2: Big Tree Camp – Shira 1 Camp (3,505m)

Leaving the rainforest, we enter the heath and moorland zone, with open vistas and rolling hills. The climb is steady but gradual, and as we gain altitude, you’ll begin to feel the effects of thinner air. The 8km trek to Shira 1 Camp takes about 5–6 hours.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp (3,840m)

Today is an easier trek across the Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic sections of the trek. This high-altitude desert landscape provides incredible views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. The gradual ascent to Shira 2 Camp (8km, 3-4 hours) allows for additional acclimatization.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower (4,630m) – Barranco Camp (3,976m)

A crucial acclimatization day, this route follows a "climb high, sleep low" approach. We trek to Lava Tower (4,630m), where we pause for lunch and acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. The 10km hike (6-7 hours) offers breathtaking views.

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (3,995m)

We start the day with an exciting climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but steep section that rewards you with stunning views. Afterward, the trail continues through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp, where we rest for the night.

Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Today's short but steep trek leads to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. You’ll have an early dinner and rest before beginning the midnight summit push.

  • Accommodation: Barafu Camp

Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Summit day begins at midnight! We ascend in the dark, reaching Stella Point (5,756m) at sunrise before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, we descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp. This long day covers about 16km in 12–14 hours.

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate (1,640m) – Moshi/Arusha

The final descent takes us through lush rainforests to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate before returning to Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest.

Day 9: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Karatu

Your safari begins with a drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, where the scenery transforms into a wonderland of baobab trees and sprawling savannahs. Famous for its large elephant herds and diverse wildlife, Tarangire offers exciting game drives where you can spot lions, zebras, giraffes, and other animals against a stunning backdrop. After a thrilling day in the park, you’ll head to your lodge or camp at Karatu town for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Karatu

After breakfast, leave Ngorongoro highlands behind and travel towards Serengeti National Park, driving through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you may stop at Olduvai Gorge or a Maasai village for an enriching cultural experience (optional). Upon entering the Serengeti, embark on an afternoon game drive, marveling at the vast plains teeming with wildlife. As the sun sets, you’ll check into your lodge or camp for a delightful dinner and rest.

Day 11: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Dedicate the entire day to exploring the Serengeti’s expansive plains and incredible wildlife. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Migration, with millions of wildebeests and zebras crossing the landscape. Spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, along with elephants, giraffes, and countless bird species. Enjoy meals in the wilderness and return to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation.

Day 12: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Karatu

After an early breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti before heading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you travel, you’ll take in sweeping views of the highlands and perhaps encounter wildlife along the way. Arrive at your accommodation near the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha

Start the day with a descent into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a natural haven for over 25,000 animals, including the Big Five. Spend the morning exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, spotting hippos in the pools, flamingos on the lake, and predators on the hunt. After a picnic lunch in the crater, begin your journey back to Arusha, where your safari concludes.

Day 14: Departure Date/Flight Day
