Tour Itinerary

Morning: Departure & Start of the Hike

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m), the official entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. Here, you’ll complete the registration process, meet your expert guide, and receive a briefing on the hike, safety, and the history of Kilimanjaro.

Once ready, you’ll begin your ascent through the lush tropical rainforest, where you’ll encounter towering trees, moss-covered pathways, and unique wildlife, including the colobus monkeys swinging in the canopy above. Your guide will point out rare plant species and share fascinating insights about the mountain’s ecology and local legends.

Midday: Mandara Hut & Maundi Crater

After about 3-4 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Mandara Hut (2,700m), a key stop for climbers taking the Marangu Route to the summit. Here, you’ll take a break, enjoy a packed lunch, and soak in the beautiful alpine scenery.

For those with extra energy, a short trek to Maundi Crater offers panoramic views of Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and the Kilimanjaro foothills. It’s the perfect spot for photos and reflection before beginning the descent.

Afternoon: Descend to Marangu Gate & Return

After a rest and exploration, you’ll begin your descent back through the rainforest, offering another chance to spot wildlife and vibrant flora. The return journey takes around 2-3 hours, bringing you back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your completion certificate for the hike.

From there, you’ll be driven back to Moshi or Arusha, arriving in the early evening, with incredible memories of hiking Kilimanjaro.
